Ne-Yo, the superstar known for his rich tenor, impressive falsetto, and sex appeal, is excited to be back in South Africa. “I can’t wait for you to see what I have in store, Durban! I hope you’re ready, because I am!”
Ne-Yo is back on the global scene after releasing his album, Non-Fiction, in January. He is making his stand on the African continent once again as the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) come back to the Durban International Convention Centre on 18 July. Last year saw Trey Songz and rapper French Montana perform at the awards. Montana even brought Khloe Kardashian along to join the crowd.
After producing multiple platinum singles, four hit albums and winning three Grammy Awards, Ne-Yo is looking better than ever in his colourful music video, Coming With You, and his energetic flair promises to bring a dynamic performance to Durban. Ne-Yo will perform songs from his sixth studio album, Non-Fiction, which will include the pre-released singles Money Can’t Buy and She Knows. Other songs include Run, Integrity and She Said I’m Hood Though.
Bruce Gilmer, an executive VP at Viacom’s International Media Networks unit, is confident that the MAMAs is continuing to gain prominence in the music world, with a constant flow of international artists at the events. “We are thrilled to have Ne-Yo join us in Durban. He’s an incredible artist that will elevate the MAMAs to new highs.”
The event will be sponsored by the KwaZulu-Natal Province in association with Absolut Vodka and in partnership with The City of Durban. Tickets for the 2015 MAMAs are on sale at Computicket at R267 (standing). MTV Base will be donating a percentage of the ticket sales proceeds to deserving causes in KZN.
