Free on Saturday night?
Want to help some school children in need?
Then Artbeat has an event for you.
Music Sounds Better with You is happening at the Union Bar, Rhodes University. Starting at 6pm, the event promises great entertainment: comedy from NatCaf and smooth jazz from Cookin’ ‘n Steamin’. Black Jack Draught will be available on tap.
There will also be acts from Freddy and the Trees, The Big Hug, Duncan Park and a rap set from Maycross, with the potential for more artists to join the lineup at the last minute. With such a range of performances on show, there is sure to be something for every taste.
Proceeds from the event will go towards establishing scholarships at the John Carinus Art School. The goal is to provide one or two deserving matriculants from Grahamstown with the opportunity to spend a year formally learning art. With the skills gained in this period, it is hoped that the students will be able to support themselves financially in the future and to build a career in the arts.
Tickets are available from Red Café, Mustard Seed and Under the Arch for R35. They will also be available at the door.
Artbeat will be covering the event.
