United Nations Day

This day is to celebrate the creation of the United Nations, arguably the most important body in global politics. Since 1948 this day has been celebrated as UN Day. Lydia Smith has written about some of it’s greatest achievements. The secretary-general Ban Ki-moon has already released a statement for 2014 where he points out the UN’s role in combating poverty, inequality and human rights abuses is still not complete. If anyone is in New York city, there was a concert with ‘Lang Lang and friends’. If not, the concert will stream live at 7:00 p.m. EDT via webcast at  www.un.org/webcast.
