Frappe Day

Invented by accident at the 1957 International Trade Fair in Thessaloniki by a Nestlé employee, this ice-cold coffee beverage has since travelled the world. Whilst the original recipe might be too sweet to stomach, there a lot of online websites that offer alternatives such as a vegan frappe or fruit frappe. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, there are interesting international variations, such as the addition of adzuki beans (red beans) in Japan or dulce de leche in Argentina. Today could be the day you invent the South African variation!
