Mad Hatter’s Day

One of the most iconic characters to emerge from C. S. Lewis’ Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is the Mad Hatter. He’s been animated, played by Johnny Depp and even appeared as a Batman villain. The date for Mad Hatter’s day originates in the 10/6 slip of paper which is typically found in illustrations of the Hatter. According to the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science , it began in 1986 in Boulder, Colorado, with the intention of being completely silly. So, why not try to brighten up your Monday with a little madness? You can wear an odd hat, take a teapot around with you or, if you’re in Grahamstown, you can visit Mad Hatter’s on high street. Maybe you could even answer the greatest mystery – why is a raven like a writing desk?
